What's good against normal Pokemon?

Battling against normal Pokemon can be surprisingly hard! Whitney's miltank is the stuff of nightmares for many trainers!


They're very common early on in the game and can wear you down if you're not equipped with plenty of potions.


Normal type Pokemon tend to have very high hit points compared to other Pokemon but the rest of their stats rank relatively low.

Normal type Pokemon are weak to:

Use fighting type attacks to deal double damage against normal types. It's super effective!

Ghost types are immune to Normal type attacks:

Use a ghost type Pokemon to take zero damage from an opponent's normal type attacks. Keep in mind that normal types are also immune to ghost type attacks!

Use Pokemon of these types to take half damage from an opponent's normal type attacks. It's not very effective.

These Pokemon learn super effective attacks or have useful resistances (or both!)

  • Lucario (fighting / steel)

  • Terrakion (fighting / rock)

  • Marshadow (fighting / ghost)

  • Conkeldurr (fighting)

  • Machamp (fighting)

  • Superpower (fighting)

  • Break brick (fighting)

  • Aura sphere (fighting)
